Round 3 Here we Come. Aston Villa 2 - 0 Hereford United

So the prematch predictions from the Villa faithful were more wishful than all knowing. With the under strength Villa team taking to the pitch AM obviously thought the team he put out would do the job against the league 2 strugglers. And after a long 80 minutes the dead lock was finally broken. If it was not for the visiting GK though Villa could have had more. But when a Albrighton corner was scruffily put into the net on 80 minutes by US fringe player Eric Lichaj just before the full time whistle super sub Delfouenso completed the result that was never in doubt.

Yes it was 0-0 for 80 minutes and it was a Villa team with 7 changes but we always looked comfortable even though the away players and support showed great character throughout the game. We were always going to be too good for them. Now we wait for the draw for the third round. With a number of PL clubs going out last night the draw could be kind to us. Swansea, Norwich, QPR and Sunderland all were defeated last night after putting out their weakened sides.
Why Sunderland did is beyond me as like Villa surely this cup is one that they could of gone for and built from. I hope that AM doesnt decide at some point to field a team that is not good enough to beat what is put put in front of us. As the Villa faithful have waited far to long to celebrate a trophy win and the 20,000 there at the game last night, for a round 2 match against a league two team. Proves that, Roll on round 3
