Preview of Aston Villa Vs Wolves

So own up who thought after last season and the matches against Wolves being relegation 6 pointers that this this season we would be welcoming them to Villa Park as a top 4 clash.

Yes i know that its still early days in the season but both teams are playing well this season. Wolves will certainly have the confidence levels up after winning their first 2 games of the season. But Villas spirit and confidence should be up there too after a great result last weekend against Blackburn
Rovers.

Also Villa, since losing to the baggies towards of the end of the season are currently unbeaten in seven PL matches. And since we last played Wolves, that awful 1-0 defeat at home back in March we have only lost one in ten in all competitions.(preseason not included)

So what can we expect from the game on Saturday. Well i believe that VP will host about the same amount of supporters as we did for the seasoner opener, as long as the attendance is a slight improvement that is a positive we can look for. Especially as its been given a stupid 12.05 kick off time. I for one have to leave home early morning just to get their in time for the match. So no predrink before the game.

What type of game will AM put out against Wolves in the first derby of our season? Surely the same as last week if everyone is fit. Gabby needs to be given the chance to show last week was not just a lucky performance and needs to run everyone close for the MOTM like he did against Rovers. Him returning to form could be like a new transfer after a quiet season last year. And if his runs in the first half performance last week was anything to go by, the old Gabby could be back, and that player will always have the villa faithful behind him. Especially after netting his 50th goal at the weekend with THAT goal. He is only the second player to hit 50 for Villa in Premier League hopefully it wont take him as long to get to 100. On Saturday he will be facing Roger Johnson and this could make thinks interesting after their tussle back in 2010 in the second city derby when Johnson took him down and gave us the penalty to beat the blue noses.

Who do we play in the middle? I would imagine he would stick with the same players as last week With MOTM Delph partnering Petrov in the middle, Now i know i have never been a strong supporter of our captain however I thought last week he played well, hell I even saw him play it forward twice, much to the amusement of the fans around me. However if he goes back to his default setting of playing it back rather than forward then get him off and bring on wee Barry Bannan to start spraying balls all over the pitch.

What are the threats of the opposition? Well Warnock could have a busy day against Jarvis.
Just the opportunity he needs to prove the doubters he should be wearing the claret and blue. Also the defense needs to have Doyle under control because he could cause problems in and around the box and supplying Fletcher. Bent and Gabby will have to be on their game too to get through the wolves back line and maybe a moment of magic from Charles N'Zogbia will be the difference between the teams?

So what can i see from this game well as a Villa fan i would love to see us get the three points but my head is telling me that this is going to end in a draw i hope i'm wrong and Villa get a comfortable win but i'm going for a score draw. What do you think the score will be?

My Prediction
Aston Villa 1 - 1 Wolves
